Registration

Registration is available online. On the registration page, please review the information and click on the College of Liberal Arts link at the bottom. On the following page select the department for which you seek credit (ANTH, HIST, PSC or SOC).

Tour Package: $2,000* (Eligible students pay $1,500; scholarship pays remaining $500)

Fee includes:

Participants are responsible for airline transportation to and from Istanbul, passport and visa fees, individual sightseeing, incidental and activity expenses, and all meals except breakfasts.

* Dates and costs are subject to change depending upon rate increases and currency exchanges. Participants may decide to stay overseas for a longer period of time to explore and travel at their own expense.

Deposit and Fee Payment Schedule

$200 nonrefundable deposit is due with registration; 50 percent of balance due Feb. 15, 2012; remaining balance due April 2, 2012. Early registration is encouraged. A late fee of $100 will be charged to anyone registering after April 2, 2012.

Scholarships

Students accepted into this Summer Study Tour to Turkey who are admitted to a degree program at any U.S. college or university and are enrolled in Spring 2012 will pay reduced program fees. For information, contact Dr. Berch Berberoğlu at berchb@unr.edu. Scholarship recipients must take the course for a letter grade.

Passports and Tourist Visas

It is imperative that participants acquire valid passports and tourist visas as soon as possible. Passport processing may take 10-12 weeks. Visas are available from the Consulate General of Turkey in Los Angeles, CA.

Standard Responsibility Clause

The University acts as an agent for the companies and individuals whose services have been engaged in the carrying out of the tour and, in consequence, accepts no responsibility for accidents, damages, baggage losses, delays due to strikes or to faults of any company used for carrying out this tour. Prices in effect at the time of printing this brochure are subject to change without notice. The right is reserved to decline to accept or retain any person as a member of the tour at any time prior to departure or in the course of the tour. In the unlikely event that the services or accommodations are not available as stated, due to reasons beyond our control, we will make every effort to provide accommodations of equal standard and quality for your safety and convenience. After the initial nonrefundable deposit, refunds will consist only of that portion of the payment retrievable from the various agents. If the final payment is not received by April 2, 2012, it will be assumed that the participant has withdrawn from the trip.
